CAA CAP437

CAP 437 is issued by the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and describes the standards for offshore helicopter landing areas. As such, it is considered worldwide to be a world leader in the field, and adherence to its regulations, even when not strictly required by local regulations, is considered best practice and paramount to operational safety of offshore helidecks.

Aeronautical Signalization

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a UN Specialized agency and is considered the worldwide authority on aviation. ICAO Annex 14 Volume 1 sets out standards for the design of Aerodromes and the marking of obstructions to aviation, while ICAO Annex 14 Volume 2 describes the minimum requirements a Heliport must meet.

The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) is the world’s leading body concerned with safe navigation. Its recommendations summarized in IALA O-139, The Marking of Man-Made Offshore Structures , is a leading document in many parts of the world in describing how Offshore Structures that could form a danger to navigation should be adequately marked.
