‘IMT is onze operator of choice’
‘Wintershall produceert olie en gas op de Noordzee. Ons streven is om operator of choice te zijn voor onze productiepartners en klanten. Waar andere producenten stoppen, pompen wij de velden zo ver mogelijk leeg tegen zo laag mogelijke kosten. Dat kan alleen als een productieplatform optimaal functioneert met zo min mogelijk stops en shut downs. Daarom moeten wij niet hoeven omkijken naar zaken die niet direct aan productie zijn gelieerd, zoals de verlichting. Dus passen wij zo veel mogelijk IQL-armaturen toe. Die hang je op en pas wanneer een platform ooit ontmanteld moet worden haal je de armaturen eraf en gebruikt ze eventueel opnieuw.
Onze platforms zijn veelal onbemand dankzij onze vergaande automatisering. Als er mensen naar een onbemand platform gaan, moet de verlichting bij inschakeling wel functioneren. Dat is de reden dat al onze platforms uitgerust zijn met IQL-verlichting van IMT. Die werkt immers altijd. Zelfs onder de extreme omstandigheden op zee, zoals hoge vochtigheid, trillingen, grote temperatuurwisselingen, zout en UV-straling. Bovendien bereiken we met minder vermogen een zelfde lichtresultaat. De IMT-navigatieverlichting is zelfs zo super helder, dat die meteen opvalt als je over de Noordzee vliegt.
Onze oudste IQL-armaturen, rode obstructielampen uit 1988, werken nog steeds, zonder problemen. De combinatie van aangepaste, ‘sealed for life’ elektronica, rvs en kristalglas maakt IQL ongeëvenaard duurzaam en betrouwbaar. Onderhoud is nauwelijks nodig, zodat we onveilige situaties om bij het armatuur te komen voorkomen en fors besparen op stellingbouw en tijd. Als wij een platform bouwen of verbouwen, dan doen we dat het liefst in één keer goed, want modificaties zijn enorm kostbaar. Ik wou dat ík IQL had uitgevonden. IMT is onze operator of choice.’
