The Asian region has been recording impressive economic growth in recent years, and therefore it is time to serve the market locally and in the same time zone.

IMT has established the new subsidiary in Singapore, which is one of the two largest hubs in Asia for the Oil & Gas and commercial marine, with the aim of further strengthening its sales in Asia.

IMT Far East is IMT’s first sales subsidiary in the Asian region. The new company will carry out marketing operations aimed at the Asian market for Maintenance Free Lighting and Systems, Helideck Lighting Systems, Navaid systems and Waterway & Harbor Lighting solutions . With the establishment of the new company, IMT will seek to expand its sales and distribution channels.

Innovative IMT lighting now directly available in Brazil

brazil

This year, IMT participated again in the trade mission to Brazil, organised by Holland Marine Equipment. Together with Minister Eurlings and a delegation of about 60 companies, IMT visited Brazil. One of the items on the programme consisted of a visit to the Holland Marine House Brazil, where IMT, in the presence of Mr Eurlings, signed a distribution agreement with Vextrom. The objective of the mission was to expand cooperation between The Netherlands and Brazil.

This 2010 trade mission was again very successful for IMT; new contacts have been made with shipbuilding wharfs and engineering firms and contacts with Petrobas, who are very interested in IMT’s maintenance free lighting, were intensified. IMT’s faith in the Brazilian market is clear from the signed agreement with the Brazilian distributor Vextrom (www.vextrom.com.br).
Special attention was drawn to this new partnership between IMT and Vextrom: ‘A good example of the way the Dutch business world can capitalize on the opportunities in Brazil’, said Minister Eurlings.

During his trade mission to Brazil, Minister Eurlings visited the Holland Marine House Brazil (HMHB), a direct result of the 2009 trade mission. Holland Marine House is founded to support Dutch maritime companies in feeling out the Brazilian market. During the 2009 mission, Transpetro (the largest ship-owner in Brazil) asked for more cooperation between The Netherlands and Brazil concerning maritime matters, resulting in the foundation of HMHB. Govert Meijer, managing director of IMT, participated as an expert in the panel discussion during the 2nd offshore helideck seminar that was organised in Rio de Janeiro. Petrobras’ major investments in oil production operations further at sea affect helicopter flights, i.e it involves larger distances and night flights. IMT’s helideck lighting systems, that are in line with CAA’s CAP 437, meet the strictest requirements in the field of signalisation lighting, and on top of that offer operators the lowest operational costs.

Successes in wind energy market lead to adjustments in IMT’s commercial team

Interest for IMT’s maintenance free lighting systems in the fast developing wind energy sector is ever increasing. The sustainable IMT solutions are in high demand, especially for large-scale European offshore projects.

To be able to offer our potential customers the appropriate service in all stages of the design and production process, IMT has decided to restructure its sales operations from the head office upon Raymond Jacobs’ leaving our company. The new structure is as follows:

  1. As Director Wind Energy, Raynaud Mignot is responsible for the coordination of activities in the various subsidiaries as well as for customer relations at management level.
  2. Business development manager Hendrik Kaijim is responsible for analysing and developing commercial opportunities as well as entering into new business relations.
  3. Account manager Jeroen van Hees is responsible for maintaining customer relations as well as drawing up system designs and commercial proposals in consultation with customers.
  4. Sales support manager Richard Boogaard is responsible for the coordination of pending quotations as well as the commercial supervision of the order process.

Thanks to the close teamwork regarding system & product development and sales with the IMT Germany team in the leading market for wind energy Germany, and thanks to the local support of IMT UK and partners in other countries, IMT is ready to meet the increasing demand for (marine and aviation) signalisation systems and general lighting.

Specialist international directives and local interpretations regarding the environment, navigation and safety characterize the wind energy market (at sea). With our full package of lighting products, our own dedicated engineering team and our many years of experience in increasing the life of those components that are the most vulnerable in heavy conditions, IMT can contribute substantially to sustainable lighting solutions for any possible condition in windmill parks. Aquarius ILED Indication/Signalisation

Aquarius ILED Indication/Signalisation

IMT is introducing a new and innovative LED luminaire called Aquarius ILED Indication/Signalisation. It is an extension of the Helideck Status Light Systems range and will be carried in addition to the existing Aquarius IQL55.
The newly developed luminaire is a low-energy luminaire and will be applied as perimeter particularly in offshore and the oil and gas industries.

The demand for energy-saving lighting is increasing rapidly. The Aquarius ILED has specifically been designed for unmanned platforms and helidecks for which the wattage needs to be minimal.
The maintenance free and selaed4life luminaire has a life expectancy of 50,0000 burning-hours.

Two models are available: the multi-voltage model and the 24Vdc version. The 24Vdc has been specifically designed for connection to a UPS System.
The luminaire, which can be used both stand-alone and as part of the Helideck System, complies with CAA (CAP437), ICAO (Annex 14) and IMO (ModuCode).

IMT’s Helideck Status Light

IMT Helideck Status Light approved by HCA

The UK Helideck Certification Agency (HCA) has now confirmed that the newly improved ‘second generation’ IMT Aquarius Helideck Status Light meets the requirements as laid out in the CAA CAP437 and the ICAO Annex 14.

In order to ensure clarity and to allay any and all doubts with regards to the compliance required of the unit by the CAA and the HCA, IMT engaged the services of Intertek (previously known as Edison Technology Laboratory), Cortland NY, USA. to carry out the neccessary independent light measurement tests.

On Thursday 16th October 2008 Intertek carried out two extensive types of light measurement on the IMT ‘Aquarius Helideck Status Light’. These tests - Photometric and Chromatic measurements have proven that IMT’s Aquarius Helideck Status Light meets the stringent requirements for compliance to the CAA CAP437 and ICAO Annex 14. Furthermore, the efficient light intensity has been determined according to CAA document 2008/01.

On 24th October 2008, the HCA informed the major UK operators that they are satisfied that the Aquarius Helideck Status Light meets the requirements set forth in the 5th edition of CAP 437. (Chapter 4, Section 3.10)

The HCA coming to this conclusion, in consultation with the CAA, based on the report findings as carried out and issued by Intertek.

NEW: Low Intensity Obstruction Light with built-in UPS

Low Intencity Obstruction Light with built-in UPS

Sometimes it is absolutely necessary to see and recognize an obstacle under all circumstances, especially for the aviation industry. With obstruction lighting, high buildings and towers can be clearly marked. But what if there is a power outage caused by a lightning stroke, a short-circuit, or something similar, while at the same time the obstacle is located right underneath a busy flight path ….

IMT came with an answer for this problem by cleverly bringing 2 of its concepts together. The basis of the system is the maintenance free IQL Low Intensity Obstruction Light with red lens and the Sealed4Life principle. Then these are combined with the reliable emergency lighting concept of IMT on the basis of LED.

Under normal operations the system runs on 230 volt and an 85Watt IQL light source. If, however, the normal power circuit unexpectedly breaks down for whatever reason, the emergency supply is immediately switched on, consisting of a circuit of 6 LEDs and a battery backup. The emergency lighting produces a light intensity of at least 10 candela. This meets the requirements of CAP437 and ICAO Annex 14.

It goes without saying that the luminaire is maintenance free during the entire lifetime. We guarantee that no maintenance will be necessary at all for 8 years, no maintenance on the luminaire, not on the light source, and not on the batteries.
