Part of the visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) consisted of the Royal Family visiting Abu Dhabi’s state oil company, the ADNOC Group, in conjunction with trade mission. This visit’s theme was entrepreneurship and innovation.

The ADNOC Group is keen serve as an example to the region in terms of its HSE policy and is currently carrying out a best practices programme in its OPCO’s.

Optimized lighting of hazardous areas - with improved battery performance of the Ex-certified IQL® Centaur Emergency Light.

Optimized lighting contributing to increased safety The intelligent battery-pack performance of the emergency function has now undergone a rigorous re-design in order to take advantage of new battery technology, resulting in significant improvement of function and use:

  • Charging system and protocols have been modified - leading to a longer battery lifetime. Batteries can now be easily replaced without having to disconnect or remove the luminaire. Batteries can be replaced without opening the luminaire, which keeps its sealed for life character. No influence of moisture at lighting components.
  • TAQA Energy, our reference Abu Dhabi based TAQA Energy, users of IQL® products since the introduction in 1993, asked IMT to come up with a solution that ensured easy, quick and safe replacement of batteries – without having to use any more access equipment other than a simple step-ladder.
  • Ron Ligtmans, TAQA Energy: TAQA´s strict HSSE regulations have resulted in a critical attitude towards all maintenance activities that need to be carried out at a height of over 2 metres. Our choice for IQL® lighting over the existing TL (fluorescent) versions is therefore a very conscious one. Furthermore, the 12 years of experience with this induction-based lighting and its proven reliability were decisive factors for us.
  • Other operators in the Oil & Gas industry using IMT’s IQL® and ILED® maintenance free products for more than 10 years now, are the likes of:
BP, Centrica, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, DuPont, Petroplus, Total, Vopak, Wintershall and Shell.

IMT happy with letter of intent between Philips and QL Company B.V.

IMT is pleased with Philips’ intention to make the QL product line independent. To that end, Philips and QL Company B.V. recently signed a letter of intent. QL Company B.V. is a newly established company that will be managed by former Philips employees. IMT management has experienced that, since its introduction in 1993, the QL system’s product qualities meet the needs of specific groups of customers.

In times when cost-consciousness and the environment are strong selling points, QL has a lot of potential. Expectations are that QL Company B.V. will give its niche product the attention that it deserves, which was perhaps not always possible when it was but one of an enormous range of products.
We are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation with this new, independent supplier with its familiar faces and a reliable product based on proven technology!
Good luck!
